Abstract

When most people think of the relationship between volcanoes and people, they tend to think of terrible eruptions with magma and clouds of ash destroying cities. Although volcanoes can be dangerous and unpredictable, many people are unaware of the economic benefits that these natural wonders can have for societies. This paper describes how the volcanic mountain range in Nicaragua has encouraged tourism and provided hope for energy independence through geothermal possibilities.
