The following segment offers a selection of essays written by students enrolled in the Advanced Italian Grammar course that Giulia Po DeLisle taught in the Fall 2022.

During the course, students advanced their grammar knowledge and watch La meglio gioventù, a six-hour epic film that follows the life of the Carati family from the early 1960s to the early 2000s. As a final project, students had to choose their favorite character from the film and write an essay making precise references to important historical facts and following specific grammar instructions (such as building sentences with subjunctives, hypothetical sentences, direct or indirect speech, and prepositional verbs).

The essays here below were selected for publication as they distinguished themselves for their content and the proper use of advanced language structures. They present the characters of Nicola, Matteo, Carlo and Adriana.
