Abstract

Nijigen Culture (lit. "two-dimensional-space culture"), also known as ACG, is a new subcultural form based on new technologies such as animation and video games. This pop culture, with origins from Japan and the West, has brought new ideas and market opportunities to Chinese society. It has also had a cultural impact in China. This essay proposes that proper use of the Nijigen metaculture to guide attracted youth groups can shape its impact while also enhancing its members’ sense of identity on a national level.
