Abstract
I wrote this poem on my hair, metaphorically relating it to my life and who I am. As a child, I grew up ashamed of my curly hair because I was unsure of my identity. As I have grown into a young woman, I have embraced my hair, who I am, and the story it tells. My curls are unruly, untamed, and like myself, willing to break the barriers set before me.
