Undergraduate Writing Services
Our mission is to support students in becoming better writers. We offer writing support to all UMass Lowell (UML) students at any stage of the writing process. Whether you need assistance with brainstorming, research, organization, formatting, or editing, we can help you improve your writing skills. You can bring class assignments or other writing projects such as cover letters, resumes, or scholarship applications. Students can schedule one appointment per day and up to two per week. We have in-person sessions on North and South campus, and we also offer online sessions on a regular basis. We occasionally offer workshops focused on various writing skills and topics.
Appointments
We offer in-person or online appointments with undergraduate peer tutors Sundays through Fridays. Sessions are 40 minutes long, and you can bring in any writing project at any stage. Tutors will ask you questions about your project and expectations, then you will work together on achieving the goals you have for your writing. After your session, we will invite you to respond to our anonymous survey about your experience. To schedule an appointment, click the “Book an Appointment” button above. You may have to sign in with your UML credentials to see the schedule. Once logged in, you can see all available appointment times and locations. Find a session that works for you, then click to book. Take note of the time and location so that you will arrive in the right place and at the right time. You will also receive a confirmation email of your appointment information. If you have scheduled an online session, your confirmation email will include a Zoom link for your appointment.
