Internal Requirements
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) may require certain forms to be completed prior to submitting a proposal to comply with University policy, sponsor requirements, and/or federal regulations. These forms can be found by navigating to the Research Enterprise Solutions (RES) Build Forms page.
As policies, requirements, and regulations change, internal requirements may also need to be updated. OSP will communicate these changes through the OSP Department News and will keep this webpage up to date. Please monitor the website for these updates and changes which may require additional documents to be included with your RES proposal.

Principal Investigator (PI) Eligibility
To be eligible to serve as a principal investigator, an individual must hold one of the following titles: professor, associate professor, assistant professor, or research professor. Although it is not common, other designated full-time, benefited professional positions may be granted a Department ID resulting in blanket PI Status at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
Full-time benefited individuals holding titles other than professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and research professor must obtain approval from the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation or his/her designee to submit research, public service, or training proposals as a PI to an extramural sponsor. A Request for PI Status Form must be completed and included with the RES proposal submission.
Please note: the Request for PI Status Approval Form is project specific and does not grant blanket PI status. A new form must be completed and approved for each proposal.
New Sponsor Request Form
If a sponsor is not currently in the RES system, a new sponsor request form needs to be completed. will get the sponsor added to the system and alert the PI when entity has been added.
New Organization Request Form
If an organization that the PI is adding as a sub-contract on a proposal is not currently in the RES system, a new organization will need to be added. The request form will need to be filled out and submitted and then this will be sent to OSP. OSP will get the organization added to the system and alert the PI when entity has been added.
Cost Share Form
All proposals including cost share must have an approved corresponding cost share form received no later than 5 business days prior to submission. F&A Waiver Form
All proposals including voluntary waived F&A must have an approved corresponding F&A waiver form received no later than 5 business days prior to submission. OSP has a separate webpage dedicated to this topic. Please visit the Indirect Cost Rates page for more information.
Limited Submissions
Limited submission opportunities are those when a funding agency or sponsor limits the number of proposals that may be submitted by an institution.
