Health Assessment Lab
The Health Assessment Laboratory (HAL) is a state-of-the art research facility located in Riverview Suites on UMass Lowell's South Campus.
Designed to enhance faculty research and student experiences, the HAL builds on the strengths of the departments in the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences and aims to be a center of excellence in human health assessment.
The research conducted at the HAL is interdisciplinary; integrating the fields of biomedical engineering, clinical laboratory science, ergonomics, exercise physiology, nutrition, nursing, and physical therapy. The HAL also serves as a facility for use by our external and community partners.
Overall Goal
The goal of the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences in supporting the HAL is to advance and communicate knowledge in the fields of nutrition and fitness; this includes development and validation of innovative methods to collect, synthesize, and interpret human assessment data. A natural second goal of the HAL is to support UMass Lowell investigators studying human health, nutrition, fitness, and performance by providing this core facility for human assessment.
