University of Toronto New College Residence

A number of rooms are currently on hold for participants of the Global Carework Summit 2019 at the New College Residence in 45 Willcocks Residence – a great dormitory residence at the University of Toronto on the St. George campus in downtown Toronto.

Special Rate: $48 (Canadian)/night for single rooms. Included is linen and pillow, a small towel, wired and wifi access (Bring your own Ethernet chord for wired internet access). Common rooms and washrooms are down the hall from the rooms. Taxes are currently 13%.

Reservations can be made by going to www.torontores.com and filling out a Reservation Form. Click on Book A Room. Fill out the 2019 Summer Residence Reservation Form for Short Term Stays (between 1 to 28 nights) and e-mail or fax it. Be sure to enter Special Rate Code “GCSUMMIT2019” on your Reservation Form. Book as soon as possible to guarantee availability.

Getting to Hart House from Pearson Airport (Toronto’s Main International Airport)

At Pearson Airport, you can take the Union-Pearson (UP) Express train to UNION STATION. From UNION STATION, switch to the TTC subway (payment required) Line 1 (Yonge-University to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station). Get off at MUSEUM STATION. Walk south on Queen’s Park Crescent W past Hoskin Ave and Wycliffe College, 7 Hart House Circle, is on your right.

Getting to Kimpton Saint George from Pearson Airport (Toronto’s Main International Airport)

At Pearson Airport, you can take the Union-Pearson (UP) Express train to BLOOR GO Station. From BLOOR, walk west on Bloor St W, cross and turn right on Dundas St W. Take TTC Subway from DUNDAS WEST (payment required) take Line 2 (East to Kennedy Station) to ST. GEORGE STATION. Kimpton Saint George is 280 Bloor St W.

If you do not wish to take public transportation, you can take a taxi from Pearson at a regulated flat rate (based on destination).

At Pearson Airport, you can take the Union-Pearson (UP) Express train to BLOOR GO Station. From BLOOR, walk west on Bloor St W, cross and turn right on Dundas St W. Take TTC Subway from DUNDAS WEST (payment required) take Line 2 (East to Kennedy Station) to SPADINA STATION. Either walk south on Spadina Ave (approx. 750 m) or transfer to the 510(Spadina Towards Union) streetcar at SPADINA STATION three stops to the SPADINA AVE AT WILLCOCKS ST. stop. The New College Residences are on the left at 40 Willcocks St.

For Public Transportation in Toronto

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is shifting to an automated system called Presto. A new Presto card costs $6.00 CDN. Fares are lower with Presto. Some station entries are only available using presto (including the convenient entrance of St. George Station).

PRICE OF UP EXPRESS TRAIN

A standard adult (ages 20-64) one-way fare is $12.35 CDN.
Paying with Presto, the fare is $9.25 CDN.

PRICE OF TTC Subway

A single TTC fare costs $3.25 CDN regardless of how far the trip.
Single fares with a Presto card cost $3 CDN.

Driving Directions from Detroit Border Crossing

After the Detroit-Windsor tunnel, turn right onto Goyeau St. then turn left onto Wyandotte St. E. Turn right onto Windsor Ave. Turn left onto Tecumseh Rd E. Turn right onto Howard Ave. Keep left to continue on Division Rd. Continue onto Provincial road. Turn left to merge onto ON-401 E. Keep on ON-401 E until passing the town of Woodstock, switch onto ON-403 E. Stay on ON-403 E until passing through Oakville, stay left to get on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) following signs for Toronto. Before passing Etobicoke, stay left to follow the Gardiner Expressway E into Toronto.

For Kimpton Saint George:

Take Gardiner Expressway until the Spadina Ave. exit. Continue north on Spadina Ave., turn right on Bloor St. The hotel is on the left, just past Huron St. You can turn left into the Klimpton Saint George, 280 Bloor St W.

For New College Residences:

Take Gardiner Expressway until the Spadina Ave. exit. Continue north on Spadina Ave., turn right on Willcocks St. The New College Residences are immediately on the left at 40 Willcocks St.

Driving Directions from New York State (Buffalo Border Crossing-Peace Bridge)

From Peace Bridge, continue straight onto Queen Elizabeth Way/ON-403E. Stay on ON-403 E until passing through Oakville, stay left to get on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) following signs for Toronto. Before passing Etobicoke, stay left to follow the Gardiner Expressway E into Toronto.
