Lawrence Lin, Ph.D. is the president of Grand Dynasty Industrial Co., Ltd., an injection molding company located in New Taipei City, Taiwan. He is responsible for GDI’s transformation from a small family-owned company to a mid-size injection molding company. GDI focuses mainly on the international market and includes customers such as Specialized, Snap-On and Bosch.
A strong supporter of the plastics engineering department at UMass Lowell, he established the Dr. Lawrence C.H. Lin Taiwan Students Endowed Scholarship Fund in 2012. This scholarship assists students interested in pursuing a degree in plastics engineering.
He received his Ph.D. in polymer science and plastics engineering from UMass Lowell and worked in the research center of a Fortune 500 company in the Boston area before joining GDI in 1993.
Lin is married to Jang-Li Chang who graduated from UMass Lowell in 1980 with a master’s degree in computer engineering. They have three children and maintain residences in Cupertino, Calif. and Taiwan.
