Undergraduate research is a strong component of a student’s experience and offers students the chance to work side-by-side with leading research professors and professionals in all areas of research: natural and social sciences, the arts and humanities, engineering, business and entrepreneurship, education and engineering. Mentoring a student and serving as a guide and facilitator for research projects is a rewarding endeavor. Through UMass Lowell’s UROC program, students are able to contribute in a meaningful way to faculty research initiatives.
The UROC program offers many benefits including:
- facilitating the faculty-student interaction that is uniquely and richly supported at UMass Lowell
- helping students learn new skills from hands-on experience that build on the knowledge acquired in the classroom
- providing an awareness of what takes place in a research lab that is working towards a product
