For many years the student employment programs have helped to meet our students' educational and financial needs, while strengthening and supporting our campus departments. Many university departments rely on student workers to lend vital support to the successful day-to-day operations of UMass Lowell. Our Student Employment Office (SEO) collaborates with all departments, employers, community partners, and students, in order to provide a safe and enjoyable work experience for all.
Looking to hire student workers:
- The JobHawk system is available to better assist you with your student staffing needs. JobHawk allows you to post your available jobs, allows you the flexibility to review applications/resumes, contact applicants directly to set up interviews, and hire suitable candidates.
- The University Student Employee Wage Structure is to be used as a guideline when posting open positions in the JobHawk system.
- JobHawk web-based tutorials in the Training Materials section are designed to simplify your posting and hiring experience. Please review these tutorials to assist with your site transition questions. Or read the complete JobHawk user’s guide (pdf).
Supervisor Training
The SEO offers opportunities for you to learn best practices for hiring/managing your student employees. These options include scheduled supervisor presentations, video training, and individual requests. Please note: Supervisors must complete and sign our Supervisor Terms & Conditions online form every year prior to hiring student employees. On occasion we also need to have supervisors attend meetings to discuss updates and changes to the SE process.
Student Employment Handbook
The Student Employment Handbook (pdf) can be used as a helpful reference when trying to answer student employment questions.
