As a part of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the mission of the LGBTQ+ Resource Center is to work towards promoting UMass Lowell’s commitment to diversity and creating a safe and healthy campus environment through education, support, advocacy and the fostering of equity for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
Located on the third floor of University Crossing, Suite 380, the Center offers a space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and anyone who supports them to come together, find support, and learn more about the resources available on campus. We have games, books, and other fun activities available, so feel free to stop by!
The Center also strives to cultivate an open-minded group of leaders on campus who are committed to educating others and themselves about the oppression of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and to combat heterosexism, homophobia, transphobia, cisgender bias, and gender-ism on a personal and institutional level. The goal is to provide a baseline knowledge of language, the stages of coming out, how to offer helpful peer support, and the means with which to develop deep discussions and effectively apply them to all aspects of life.
