Nuclear chemical engineering science and cross-cutting energy and materials applications: nuclear fuel recycling, nuclear facilities, national security, separations, isotopes.
Modeling of atomic to continuum transport phenomena and validated high-performance computing simulation. Basic and applied research for energy applications: chemical, nuclear and materials.

Biosketch
Before joining UMass Lowell in 2017, Prof. de Almeida was a Senior Staff Scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 18 years working in the areas: Nuclear Separations; Theory, Modeling and Simulation of Atomistic to Continuum Media; Nuclear Materials Recovery; High-Performance Computing.
