Welcome to the Richard A. Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences!

The Graduate School had an orientation for new graduate students on Tuesday September 4 from 4-7 p.m. in University Crossing.

Please visit the Graduate school's information page for information about campus life, tuition, visa, and how to set up SiS account, etc.

Please read the Computer Science Degree Requirements before you sign up for classes. Course information, Degree Pathways and more can be found in the UMass Lowell online Academic Graduate Catalog.

If you have any courses listed as conditions on your admission letter, you may take the placement test on during the first week. If you do not pass the placement test, you must take those courses in Fall 2018 with B or better grades.

Once you have decided which courses to take, you should contact the instructors of these courses for permission numbers to enroll, then enroll through SiS.

What is the cost of studying at UMass Lowell?

You can find the tuition and fee information on the Solution Center website and make payments following the guidelines regarding billing and payments on the Solution Center website. Living cost in Lowell is about $1000 and up per month.

Is financial assistance available?

In general, financial assistance is available for Ph.D. students. Please contact the Chair of the Miner School for further information.

How do I apply?

You should apply online through the office of Graduate Admissions.

On my admission letter, some undergrad level courses are listed as conditions. Why?

Undergrad CS and Math core courses are the pre-requisites of many graduate level CS courses.

If you have not taken those courses during your undergrad study or if the grade was below B, you are required to take those courses before you can take graduate level CS courses.

What courses count towards MS/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science?

Only graduate level Computer Science courses (COMP.5***, COMP.6*** and COMP.7*** courses) count towards a student's MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science.
