Quality of Working Life Among Industrial Workers (Peru) (Related to TORs 1 and 3)
This research initiative aims to diffuse the notion of Quality of Working Life among blue collar workers in industrial settings in Lima, the capital of Peru. By using the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) mechanism, researchers and industry partners are working together to identify simple and practical solutions (interventions) to both, the physical and psychosocial risk factors at the workplace that could impact workers' stress, health and satisfaction.This research initiative aims to improve the Quality of Working Life (QWL) among industrial workers with respect to their physical, mental and social well-being domains. By adapting key principles from the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach, UMASS Lowell researchers and local industry partners in Lima, the capital of Perú, are working together to identify simple and practical solutions (interventions) to reduce both, the physical and psychosocial risk factors at work. Anticipated results from this worker participatory endeavor include reduced levels of stress and higher levels of job satisfaction and perceived health status.
