The Consortium for International Exchange, Leadership, and Opportunity (CIELO) at UMass Lowell has the expertise and infrastructure to provide high-quality and high-impact exchange programming for international teachers, school leaders, college professors, university administrators, and community educators. Our CIELO leadership team has managed $4 million in federal grant awards. Collectively, we have served more than 300 exchange participants from more than fifty countries and territories, including the following:

CIELO members have designed, developed, implemented, and evaluated a wide variety of academic and professional development workshops, cultural exchanges with friendship families, and field experiences in schools, colleges, and community agencies. We have well-established partnerships prepared to host on-campus and virtual programs during the academic year and summer months.
Recent projects led by our CIELO team include the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program, the English Access Microscholarship Program, and CIVITAS.
