Polysaccharide based Alternatives:
Polysaccharides, specifically due to it abundance, renewable and non-toxic properties makes it an ideal candidate for bio-surfactants.
Starting materials were selected based on
- non-toxic nature and biodegradability
- occurrence from natural and renewable resources
- easily availability in abundance
- low cost, preferably waste product

Modification Methods:
Our work establishes modification methods of natural occurring materials in aqueous/non-toxic solvents, carried out in accordance to the principles of green chemistry. The polysaccharides were modified through ‘greener’ synthesis routes using chemical, enzymatic and microwave-assisted synthesis.
