Directions
- Prepare the following (detailed instructions linked below):
- a. Complete the essay
- b. Choose and complete your science / science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) interest element
- c. Film your Personal Statement Video
- d. Ask your teacher for a reference and have their first name, last name and email address ready to enter
- Fill out the 2025 PROPEL Summer Research Internship Application Form linked below.

1. Essay:
Please write a short essay (250-word limit):
Think about a significant experience that challenged you (academically or personally).
- What was the challenge?
- What did you do to overcome the challenge?
- What did you learn about yourself as you faced the challenge?
2. Science / STEM interest element:
Demonstrate your excitement for science, research, and exploration - think about a STEM-related experience or topic that inspired you to pursue a science / STEM internship.
Show / relate / discuss:
- Something you have designed, or thought of designing
- Experiments or Projects you have done or wish to do
- A recent discovery in science that interests you and the impact of this discovery
Include:
- What influenced your interest in this topic?
- What are steps you have taken to learn more?
Format:
- Canva.com Infographic
- Google Slide(s)
- 2-3 Instagram Posts
- Podcast or Video
3. Personal Statement Video
Create a 1 minute video introducing us to who you are and what motivates you! Be as creative as you can!
Make sure to start with “Hi, my name is _________ from _______School.”
Remember to follow the YouTube Community Guidelines please!
4. Finish the Application Form
Make sure to finish the 2025 PROPEL Summer Research Internship Application Form.
