All employees who are NOT considered Confidential Employees as defined in the Equal Opportunity Nondiscrimination and Harassment Plan and Case Processing Manual (pdf) (p. 13) are required to report incidents of Sexual Harassment a form of Sex Discrimination under Title IX, as defined in these Guidelines, to the Title IX Coordinator.
Confidential Employees are not required to report incidents to the Title IX Coordinator. However, Confidential Employees must provide contact information for the Title IX Coordinator to the reporting individual.
- Title IX Coordinator: William Cummings, William_Cummings@uml.edu, 978-934-3565
- Deputy Title IX Coordinator: Ann Ciaraldi, Ann_Ciaraldi@uml.edu, 978-934-2104
- Deputy Title IX Coordinator: Andrew Klein, Andrew_Klein@uml.edu, 978-934-3565
Please report the names, contact information, date, time and location of the potential occurrences. Please let the person you spoke with know that the Title IX Coordinator will reach out to discuss options and support resources. Your report to the Title IX Coordinator, and the person's meeting with the Title IX Coordinator, do not automatically begin a Title IX grievance process without a formal complaint from the reporting party. In some circumstances, the university may initiate an investigation without a formal complaint.
Requests for Confidentiality
A person with a concern or complaint cannot be guaranteed confidentiality. The university has a responsibility to respond to the extent possible to formal complaints, and potentially to some other concerns, even if a complaint is not filed. A decision to keep a concern confidential would prevent the university from fully investigating and responding to it, should it need to do so. The university may review the concern for the purpose of ending sexual harassment, preventing its recurrence, and remedying its effects. For these reasons, confidentiality cannot be assured. Only Confidential Employees can provide confidentiality. However, privacy will be maintained to the extent possible while complying with the requirements of university policies, state and federal law.
