Orientation Mission
Orientation, within the division of Enrollment Management at UMass Lowell, strives to support incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students by providing them with a foundation to flourish academically, engage with the campus community socially, and grow personally. We design our program to be a stepping-stone for both college and post-commencement careers by encouraging a diverse and inclusive environment while creating a meaningful and positive impact on a student's connection to UMass Lowell. Using a highly-trained staff of current students functioning as Orientation Leaders, we work with our admitted population in order to provide an open and welcoming environment while facilitating the acquisition of necessary skills. Our goal is to ensure that every student enters their first semester confident that they will be accepted, welcomed, and prepared. To achieve this goal, we institute the following purposes of our Orientation experience:
- Navigate the Campus
- Enter the Conversation
- Become a River Hawk
