An American Studies degree can serve as a foundation for a wide array of careers:

  • newspaper reporter
  • radio show producer
  • museum curator
  • public history educator
  • lawyer
  • foundation administrator
  • documentary film maker
  • magazine or book editor
And the list goes on!
In preparation for such careers, the American Studies program at UMass Lowell helps its students arrange internships with cultural institutions and media outlets. Recently, students have worked with producers at Open Source (a nationally syndicated public radio show), Lowell's public access television, and New England-area museums and living heritage sites.
