Undergraduate Co-op
The UMass Lowell Professional Cooperative Education program provides full-time undergraduate students with the chance to systematically integrate their classroom studies with professional work experiences. The Professional Co-op Program is a partnership among students, the University and employers and is administered by the UMass Lowell Career & Co-op Center.
A Professional Co-op is:
- A three-phase academic program coordinated and supervised by Co-op Staff, in conjunction with faculty affiliated with each participating college
- A structured, selective, voluntary program for full-time students who are in good academic standing
Flexibility
This flexible program is beneficial to students and easy to manage by the academic programs and local business community. There are part-time and full-time co-op opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. Academic credit is based on hours worked. Co-op students can earn money in the program and, at the same time, lessen the academic course load.
Connectivity
The Co-op Program is well integrated within other academic and business programs, complementing them effectively. The bustling Merrimack Valley industrial economy, with its many high-technology companies, is actively involved in the Co-op Program.
The Co-op Program is a distinguishing element of the total UMass Lowell experience. It offers a high degree of technical excellence and training, as well as innovative and practical hands-on approaches to preparing graduates for the technical job market.
Supportive Environment
Are you a current student interested in participating in the undergraduate program? The best way to connect with a Co-op advisor is to utilize their convenient virtual drop-in hours.
