General Requirements
To complete the Honors College requirements and graduate as a Commonwealth Honors Scholar, honors students must:
- Maintain a 3.250 cumulative GPA
- Complete the Honors curriculum requirements
- Complete at least one approved Enrichment requirement (E1) during each semester the student is a member of the Honors College
- Complete and defend an honors project or honors thesis
Curriculum Requirements
- H1: First Year Seminar in Honors (FYSH). If necessary, this may be replaced by taking a dedicated honors AH/SS core curriculum course.
- H2: An honors section of College Writing II. If a student already has credit for a non-honors, this may be replaced by taking a dedicated honors AH/SS core curriculum course.
- H3: Any upper-level Honors Seminar.
- H4 Either:
- Any dedicated honors course
- An Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity
- H5: Either:
- Any dedicated honors course
- An Honors-by-Contract on a non-honors 3000/4000 level course
- An Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity
- H6: Either:
- Any 2000/3000/4000 level dedicated honors course
- An Honors-by-Contract on a non-honors 3000/4000 level course
- An Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity (Students may not use more than two (2) Honors Experiential Learning Opportunities to satisfy the H4/H5/H6 for Commonwealth Honors)
- Any graduate level course
- H7: Either:
- A course that supports the first half of a two-semester Honors Project or Thesis
- A 3000/4000 level dedicated honors course
- A graduate course
- H8: Either:
- An upper-level letter-graded course that supports the second half of a two-semester Honors Project or Thesis
- An upper-level letter-graded course that supports a one-semester Honors Project
