Special Academic Policies
The following rules govern the applicability of courses satisfying curriculum requirements in any Manning School of Business concentrations:
- Students may transfer a course that the Manning School of Business offers in its upper division (3000-4000 level) if the course was taken at a school accredited by the AACSB, prior approval was granted, and a grade of ‘C’ or better was earned.
- Upper division Manning School of Business courses (3000 - 4000 level) are restricted to matriculated students who have completed all prescribed prerequisites. Transfer students may not count any courses that require validation or which are not creditable to a Manning School of Business concentration towards this requirement.
- Manning School of Business upper division courses are restricted to:
- juniors and seniors enrolled in the Manning School of Business;
- juniors and seniors enrolled in another college of the university whose major requires completion of specific business course;
- juniors and seniors enrolled in another college of the university who are also registered in a Manning School of Business minor; and
- students who meet appropriate prerequisites considered on a case-by-case basis.
- An unrestricted (free) elective (designated Manning or non-Manning elective) for Manning School of Business students is any course satisfying one of the following criteria:
- a 1000 or above level course from any college offered at UMass Lowell;
- a course allowed by an approved academic petition.
Any course taken in violation of these rules may not be used to fulfill Manning School of Business curriculum requirements regardless of the grade.
