Order Textbooks Course Materials - Verba Collect
Textbook Ordering Instructions for Faculty Using Verba Collect:
Users can create an optional account on the Verba Collect application using your @uml email address and create a new password (this application does not use single sign-on at this time). The most efficient way to adopt your course materials is by using the one-click link provided to you from the River Hawk Shop emails.
Step 1: Create an Account (optional)
- Go to the Verba Collect website
- Select “RESET MY PASSWORD”
- Enter your UMass Lowell (UML) email address (firstname_lastname@uml.edu) and select Recover Access
- You will receive an email from River Hawk Shop Textbook Adoptions. Select “Create/Reset Password”
- Create a password
- You will be redirected to the login page
- Enter your UML email address
- Enter your Verba Collect password
Step 2: Adopt Course Materials
There will be two sections on your dashboard: Open Courses and Completed Courses. Open courses refer to courses that do not have completed adoptions and require further action from you. Completed courses have adoptions and require no further action from you.
- To make adoptions in an open course, select the course.
- A dialogue box will open, select the appropriate section and click Next.
- A dialog box will appear with the following question: Do you need to add materials to this adoption?
- Yes, I need to add books, OER materials, or supplies.
- No, I do not need to add books, OER materials, or supplies.
- No, this section isn’t offered.
Note: If you are using Open Educational Resources (OER) that students needs to acquire, select "yes" (and provide those details). If you are using free OER, select the second option "no." - Select the appropriate answer.
- If you selected, Yes, I need to add text or materials, the following screen has three options:
- Option 1: Copy Another Adoption
- Option 2: Add New Materials
- Option 3: Add Manually
We will provide instructions for Option #2: Add New Materials since most users will be performing this step:
- Select Add New Materials
- Search by ISBN, author, title or subject:
- You can also filter the results by selecting the appropriate filter under “Results for (search terms)”. Select View Details for list prices, copyright dates, and affordability scores on each title. The higher the score, the more affordable it is for students.
- To adopt a title, select Quick add to list.
- Provide item requirements, select Apply.
- To submit your order, select Review and Submit
- Provide Additional Details for estimated enrollment or notes.
- Select Submit Adoptions
- Your order will be submitted for processing and you will receive a confirmation email.
