Provost's Annual Promotion and Tenure Workshops

The Provost's Annual Promotion and Tenure Workshops provide best practices to prepare for promotion and/or tenure. A panel of recently promoted/tenured colleagues, a department chairperson and a member of the University Rank and Tenure Committee will also provide recommendations and tips to assist candidates. This is a great opportunity to hear questions from colleagues and ask your own! Attendees will receive the 2025-26 P&T calendar and the Provost's Guidelines. Faculty planning to apply for promotion and/or tenure in 2025, future candidates, dept. chairs, and deans are welcome to attend.

The Provost provides a preparation meeting for P&T reviewer committees. This meeting offers a comprehensive review of the responsibilities of Department and College Personnel Committees, focusing on the criteria for promotion and tenure, and best practices for equitable and inclusive meeting protocols.

This session is an essential opportunity for committee members to gain clarity on the process and ask pertinent questions. Attendees will receive guidance on membership eligibility criteria, voting protocols, deadlines, and expectations of committee recommendation letters. The session will emphasize preparation, professionalism, and confidentiality. Additionally, the Advance Office for Faculty Equity & Resilience will present recommended strategies for mitigating implicit bias and increasing transparency and equity in personal decisions. Attendance is strongly encouraged for faculty serving on their Department and/or College Personnel Committees, especially DPC and CPC Chairs, to ensure they are well-prepared for the promotion and tenure process. To ensure an open and candid discussion, this meeting will not be recorded.
