Biosketch
The focus of Greg Morose's research for the past several years has been evaluating safer alternatives to toxic chemicals and materials used in products and manufacturing processes. He has developed an alternatives assessment methodology to evaluate the environmental, human health, technical performance, and financial considerations for companies transitioning to less toxic materials. He has conducted numerous alternatives assessments for products containing toxic materials such as: mercury, lead, phthalate plasticizers, radioactive materials, solvents, hexavalent chromium, phthalates, and brominated flame retardants. His research activities have been funded by diverse sources including: industry, state governments, federal government, United Nations and foundations.
Greg has conducted life cycle assessments for products including footwear, toys, dolls, pharmaceutical processing equipment, product packaging, water filtration products, food packaging, food products, and power supplies for various Fortune 500 companies using GaBi, SimaPro, and Sustainable Minds LCA software. Greg has taught life cycle assessment and sustainable product design courses at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Tufts University.
Greg has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Environmental Studies, a Master of Business Administration, and a doctoral degree in cleaner production and pollution prevention. Greg is also an ASQ certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
