The Office of Multicultural Affairs’ STEP is an undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program that is committed to increasing success amongst STEM students. STEP supports, empowers, and enhances the skills of STEM students working towards the completion of their undergraduate degree through a cohort-based model, mentorship, holistic framework, and connections with faculty and staff.

This program is open to all currently enrolled undergraduate students. Interested students may complete the required form below to sign up. Our team will be in contact after the form is completed with information regarding onboarding.

  • Increase academic excellence and retention of undergraduates in STEM

  • Support in maintaining at least a 3.000 cumulative grade point average (GPA)

STEPs to Success

STEPs to Success are the engagement actions required of each STEP cohort member each semester. They are established to create a pathway toward the development of our areas of focus, and three educational pillars: academic excellence, professional development, and leadership.

Required

  • Academic Support: Must meet with a tutor at least 1 a week.
  • Group Study: Must engage in a form of group study at least 2 a month.
  • Advising: Must meet with an advisor 2 a semester.
  • Workshops: Must attend at least 1 a semester.
  • 1:1 Check-Ins: Must attend a 1:1 meeting at least 2 a semester.
  • Career Readiness: Must attend the semester's Career Fair. This may be substituted by another related event or activity.
