The Social Justice Center emphasizes and amplifies the work of the Office of Multicultural Affairs in learning, allyship, advocacy, collaboration, and research.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs Social Justice Center promotes a community space for students of all identities to come together engaging in dialogue around diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice themes. Community exploration around understanding social justice in a broad lens in our university, community and greater world.

Ongoing Goals

  • Develop and strengthen partnerships across the university and greater Lowell community.
  • Incorporate into the many facets of the UML diversity and inclusion action plan.
  • Create a central hub to support students as world events unfold.
  • Bring international students together and build connections on a more continuous basis through targeted meetings and gatherings. 
  • Organize targeted proactive and preventative education efforts for learning about DEISJ before major events happen. 
  • Apply and integrate programming and education around different areas of wellbeing.  
  • Expand ideas around social justice in the areas of environmental and financial justice.
