Our nuclear physics group in the Physics Department at Lowell have a broad research program in nuclear sciences.

In nuclear structure, we specialize in studying very light nuclei (focusing on precision experimental measurements of lifetimes), Very heavy heavy nuclei (focusing on shell stabilization), K-Isomers in rare-earth and actinide nuclei, Shape co-existence.

In detector technology, we specialize in germanium detector technologies, including improving position sensitivity, tracking, and detector repair. We also are involved in developing new bright scintillators for gamma and neutron detection.
