Brooke earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia State University where she developed an interest in climate change and marine microbiology. After graduating, Brooke worked as a field technician, serving as a Fisheries Observer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Alaska and as a research assistant on the Arctic Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Lakes project with Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL). Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Assistant Professor Sarah Gignoux-Wolfsohn’s lab at UMass Lowell, researching the role of microbiomes in coral disease resistance. Brooke is broadly interested in how marine animals are evolving to become more resilient to the effects of climate change.
