Students can work in on-campus labs or pursue internships with faculty support. Our students have interned in companies including Analog Devices, Google and NASA/Ames.
1Research Labs
The Robotics Lab
Head Professor: Holly Yanco
Research focuses on human-robot interaction, ranging from visual displays to evaluation methods to a new HRI architecture for robots. Application domains include assistive technology, urban search and rescue, explosive ordinance disposal, and hazardous materials response.
Engaging Computing Group
Head Professor: Fred Martin
Focused on developing technologies and approaches to help a variety of learners—kids, teachers, undergrads, and others—to interact with science, engineering, computing, and the arts.
PeARL: Persistent Autonomy and Robot Learning Lab
Head Professor: Reza Ahmadzadeh
Research focuses on developing machine learning algorithms and their application to robot autonomy and physical Human-Robot Interaction. Our group's research interests include learning from demonstration, learning reactive behaviors, and reinforcement learning.
