The William J. Kennedy Nanotechnology Research and Development Center houses wet chemistry, dry chemistry, biology and materials laboratories. Spanning the second floor of the Mark and Elisia Saab Emerging Technology and Innovation Center, this center is a focal point for UMass Lowell’s nanotechnology research and development. The UMass Lowell labs for Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing, funded by the National Science Foundation, are headquartered here. Testing facilities and an extensive range of specialized equipment are available for partnering. These include:
- Plastics manufacturing
- Blow Molding
- Extrusion, Film Extrusion, Multilayer Extrusion
- Injection Molding
- Nanocomposite Processing
- Electrospinning Fibers
- Batch mixing
- Rubber mixing and molding
- Roll-to-Roll capabilities
- Characterization equipment
- Thermal analysis suite (DSC, TGA, DMA), rheometers
- Mechanical testing suite- tensile, flexural, impact, vibration, thermal
