Advisors are key to academic success. They’re available throughout a student’s four years to help with everything from selecting required core classes to picking electives.
First-year students (and sophomores, depending on college and major) can contact their college-based advisor directly through the Student Information System (SiS) for advice.
During sophomore year, students are matched with an academic advisor who is a faculty member in their major and who can help guide them toward graduate school or career goals.
And any student, anytime, can go talk to an advisor in the Centers for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS). They’re a good choice if you want to change your major, especially to one outside your current college.
If you don’t like your major but aren’t sure where to focus next, CLASS offers an “Exploratory” program that will help you decide, as well as a “Change Your Major Expo” in early spring where you can talk to faculty from different colleges.
