Three donors have made gifts totaling $1.625 million in support of UMass Lowell’s first comprehensive fund-raising campaign, “Our Legacy, Our Place.”
Two of the donors are alumni: John F. Kennedy, a 1970 graduate of Lowell Technological Institute, created a $1 million endowed fund to support the William J. and John F. Kennedy College of Sciences; and L. Donald LaTorre, a 1959 Lowell Tech grad, who together with his wife, Gloria, gifted $350,000 to endow the LaTorre Family Scholarship Fund, which will provide support for Kennedy College of Sciences students.
The third donor is Jack M. Wilson, president emeritus of the University of Massachusetts and UMass Lowell distinguished professor of higher education, emerging technologies, and innovation. Wilson and his wife, Judi, gifted $275,000 to underwrite the President Jack M. Wilson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Manning School of Business.
