The American Gear Manufacturers Association Foundation awards six to eight scholarships to outstanding engineering students at undergraduate and graduate levels each year. UMass Lowell mechanical engineering student Bahadir Sarikaya has been awarded AGMA 2019 Scholarship second time in a row based upon his successful investigations on gear and power transmission dynamics.
Bahadir is a graduate research assistant at UMass Lowell’s Structural Dynamics and Acoustic Systems Laboratory (SDASL), and works with Prof. Murat Inalpolat. His current research deals with torsional vibration reduction systems for automotive drivetrains. His general research interests are structural dynamics, linear or nonlinear dynamic modeling of mechanical systems, and vibrations with a current focus on gearbox dynamics and its interaction with other drivetrain components of passenger cars.
