The IEEE-HKN Epsilon Zeta Chapter has had an eventful March, marked by academic excellence, professional development, and community engagement.

This month, we welcomed three new members during our Spring 2025 Induction Ceremony. The event featured remarks from Chapter President Thidalis Theapanha and Professor Seung Woo, who spoke on leadership and the values of HKN.

We also hosted several technical and professional events:

  • Intro to IC Design with Infineon: An overview of integrated circuit design fundamentals.
  • Resume Review Workshop with Brooks Automation: One-on-one feedback sessions with industry professionals.
  • Radar Simulation Class: A hands-on look at signal processing and real-time detection technologies.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to host Spring Makernight, our final event of the semester. Attendees will craft their own DIY light-up flowers, combining basic circuitry with felt or paper petals to create a glowing bloom. It’s a great way to take a break from the stress of finals season, get creative, and enjoy a relaxed evening with fellow students.

Member Spotlight:

  • February – Patrick Conlan
Patrick, a senior in Electrical Engineering, has had two back-to-back internships at Infineon during the Summers of 2023 and 2024. He continues to work there part-time while maintaining full-time status at UML. In his role, he’s contributed to validating ICs, programming lab equipment for automated testing, and designing PCBs. Congratulations to Patrick for being named our first HKN Spotlight Member!
  • March – Adam Embarch
Adam, a junior in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration, recently completed a Summer 2024 co-op at Pfizer in Andover, MA. As an Infrastructure Engineer, he managed a campus-wide lighting upgrade project focused on improving energy efficiency. Adam has also served as a Resident Assistant on campus since August 2023.

The Epsilon Zeta Chapter remains committed to fostering a collaborative and enriching environment for aspiring engineers across campus.
