We are proud to welcome Hada Fongha Ieong, Ph.D., for a seminar titled: “Pain Unraveled: Bridging Biochemistry, Medicine, and Innovation.” This discussion aims to bridge the gap between biochemistry, medicine, and industry, providing a comprehensive overview of pain syndromes, their biochemical mechanisms, and the challenges associated with opioid use disorders. A special focus will be placed on the challenges of opioid use disorder, examining the neurobiological mechanisms behind opioid addiction and the delicate balance between pain relief and the risk of dependency. Lastly, recent innovations in pain management, such as the FDA-approved Journavx™ (suzetrigine), will be discussed, offering a glimpse into the future of non-opioid therapies. By connecting biochemistry with clinical practice and research, it is to emphasize the importance of a collaborative approach to addressing the dual challenges of pain management and opioid use disorders. By connecting biochemical research with clinical application, this seminar underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing pain.
Join us in person at Olney Hall, Room 518 or via Zoom (ID: 484-908-1235).
Pizza and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome!
