The performance management cycle for staff begins each year in April. For this cycle, the evaluation period is April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025. Completing performance evaluations is essential for ongoing feedback, recognizing employee contributions, and identifying opportunities for development and engagement.

This year, managers and supervisors are encouraged to focus evaluations on employee accomplishments and goals, while reflecting on the successes and challenges of the past year. Consider questions such as:
• What have we learned from this year’s challenges?
• What changes or improvements should we continue moving forward?
• How can we collaborate to build on our successes?

In previous years, we offered training sessions for new managers and staff. This year, we will provide performance training documents on our website for all to review at their convenience as a refresher.

Available Forms (editable .doc format):
  • Performance Planning & Evaluation Form
  • Performance Notes
  • Employee Self-Evaluation Worksheet
  • Performance Development Plan
  • Performance Planning & Evaluation Program Training for Managers
  • Performance Planning & Evaluation Program Training for Staff

We also encourage reviewing the UMass Lowell Performance Management Reference Guide and the Performance Management Timeline. Forms can be saved as Word documents or PDFs. Completed forms should be emailed to: Maria_Figueroa@uml.edu.

If you have questions, need help, or require more time to complete evaluations, please contact Ruby Carnevale. We are committed to supporting a successful process for all staff and managers.

Upcoming Change: New Automated Evaluation System for 2025–2026

Starting with the 2025–2026 Performance Evaluation Cycle, we will transition to an automated performance evaluation system called NEOED, replacing the current paper-based forms. NEOED will streamline the process, improve efficiency, and enhance the experience for employees and supervisors alike.

We will continue to share updates and training materials in the coming months to support a smooth rollout for the campus community.
