Abstract:
Hydrodynamically-driven exchange of fluid between surface water and the seabed aquifer is an important and dynamic component of coastal, estuarine, and global fluid budgets. Such “benthic exchange” promotes ecologically important chemical reactions, so quantifying benthic exchange rates, depths, and residence times constrain coastal chemical cycling estimates.
