Dear UMass Lowell Community,

I wish to express my condolences and concern for the family, friends, classmates, faculty and staff affected by Friday's tragic incident at the Howe Bridge on University Avenue.

I would also like to reiterate Chancellor Chen’s email sent Friday afternoon, encouraging those who may be interested in mental health support to access the resources available to you.

Students may contact the Wellness Center during regular business hours at 978-934-6800 to speak with someone about counseling services. Students wishing to speak with a mental health clinician immediately should contact the on-call clinician at any time at 855-890-2879.

For faculty and staff, GuidanceResources are available. Those wishing mental health support should call 844-393-4983 or visit www.guidanceresources.com.

Finally, the STARS Behavioral Intervention team is a resource for those concerned about the wellbeing of a UMass Lowell student.

Again reiterating Chancellor Chen’s message, it is so important that we support each other in difficult times like this. Thank you for the compassion you already show other members of our community.
