If you are researching the history of Lowell or the university, or want to incorporate related content into your classes, consider accessing our Special Collections Library. Meet with our archivists by making an appointment to visit the Center for Lowell History
When you or your students need help with research, Ask A Librarian is available. Our FAQs cover hundreds of topics and you can email ask@uml.libanswers.com for personalized help. We have drop-in and Zoom help available. You can also book personal appointments with the research and learning librarians. We’re happy to meet with you over Zoom or in person to help with your literature and systematic reviews.
Streaming Media Requests
Are you using video in your classes? Let us know the movie, documentary or other video content you want to share with your students. Please be aware that even if you used a particular movie in past semesters, you need to place a request each time you teach a course. Many times, the access we purchase is temporary, and our subscription access changes from time to time. We’ll work to find streaming access from one of our many partners. Please submit your media requests to the Suggest a Purchase form.
Support for Open Access Publishing
In addition to Wiley and Institute of Physics (IOP), we recently added agreements with the American Chemical Society, the Company of Biologists, American Society for Microbiology, and Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). Starting in 2025, those publishing in journals from these publishers have the option to have their articles published open access. The library's contract with the publisher waives the open access article processing charges (APCs). If you have questions about this agreement or would like us to talk to a publisher you regularly work with, please contact Alice Pearman, assistant director for library collections.
