The Provost’s Office and The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) are delighted to invite you to apply for a new mini-grant program facilitated by Professor Milena Gueorguieva of the English Department. This initiative aims to:
1. Build faculty confidence in supporting multilingual students.
2. Enhance multilingual students’ learning experiences.
3. Promote knowledge-sharing by creating tools and examples for classroom integration.

Program Details
We are offering 12 mini-grants of $1,000 each, to be paid in Spring 2025 for the work described below. The program is open to all faculty, and we strongly encourage applications from across disciplines. Preference will be given to faculty who participated in CELT’s Fall 2024 Multilingual Student Support Workshop Series.
Timeline
• Winter Session 2025 through February 3rd: Application period
• Spring 2025: Mini-grant convenings to assist in creating a classroom implementation plan
• Fall 2025: Classroom applications with support from Professor Gueorguieva
• Intersession 2026: Faculty feedback and assessment submission to Professor Gueorguieva
• Spring 2026: Sharing of discipline-specific examples and classroom assignments through UMass Lowell platforms
• Spring 2025: Mini-grant convenings to assist in creating a classroom implementation plan
• Fall 2025: Classroom applications with support from Professor Gueorguieva

Deliverables for Grant Recipients
• Engagement: Attend four meetings in Spring 2025 (Feb-May; schedule TBD).
• Implementation: Integrate grant-inspired strategies in your classroom (Fall 2025).
• Reflection and evaluation: Based on your implementation plan, provide reflection and assess the outcome of your project.
• Sharing Outcomes: examples include, but are not limited to:
