The Office of Brand, Communications & Creative Strategy recently received international and regional recognition for its UMass Lowell Magazine, a publication that keeps more than 98,000 alumni and friends connected with the university.

Earlier this year, the Council of Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awarded the UMass Lowell Magazine with a silver Circle of Excellence award in the category of alumni/general interest magazines printed twice a year. CASE received more than 4,200 submissions from universities in 28 countries and only about 11% received awards.

In October, CASE recognized UMass Lowell Magazine with a Best of District I Award for the same category. District I covers New England and Eastern Canada.

The magazine issues honored in these competitions included “What’s Up With the Weather?” and “City Lights,” both published in 2023. The judges applauded the magazine’s “innovative storytelling accompanied by strong design elements and solid content.”

Written, edited and designed entirely in-house by the Content & Creative team led by Exec. Dir. Sarah Corbett, UML Magazine has previously been honored with APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, Bell Ringer Awards, Collegiate Advertising Awards, Hermes Creative Awards, Higher Ed Marketing Awards, PR Daily Awards and PR Daily Nonprofit PR Awards.
