Consider joining us in discussing different topics related to program evaluation.

We will be meeting November 8, via Zoom, from Noon to 1 p.m. Please email us at cpe@uml.edu for the Zoom link.

This month Jason Rydberg will present:

Describing Bayesian Mixed Effects Models to Assess Program Effects

Evaluating the impact of program activities on outcomes occasionally involves complex data structures – such as units nested within clusters, and observed longitudinally – and the corresponding statistical models can be difficult to estimate. In this Brown Bag, CPE Co-Director Jason Rydberg will welcome some feedback on a manuscript under revision (co-authored with Dr Emily Greene-Colozzi and doctoral student Sean Perry in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies) that describes the model fitting and validation approach for Bayesian mixed effects models, specifically applied to estimating the effect of firearm seizures by the police on measures of gun violence. The talk might be of interest to students and colleagues interested in the method, or those looking to talk about handling reviewer comments in the manuscript revision process.

The mission of the Center for Program Evaluation (CPE) is to conduct research on program evaluation methods as well as to offer evaluation planning, consulting, training and services for the university, regional and global community. CPE offers program evaluation services that support the university’s missions of research, teaching, and service to the community and industry for both faculty and students.
