The Honors College is excited to welcome artist and activist Genesis Be to campus on Wednesday, Oct. 9 for our Honor Yourself Week.

Genesis Be will screen her documentary "Mississippi Turning," which tells the powerful story of her efforts to remove the Confederate Flag removed from the design of Mississippi's state flag. This will be followed by a workshop on how to have difficult conversations with family, friends, and strangers, teaching students how they can stand their ground while, at the same time, creating common ground with others.

These events will take place in Alumni Hall from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and, again, in Coburn Hall 255 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. They are open to all UMass Lowell students, faculty and staff.

More about Genesis Be:
Genesis Be serves as Global Ambassador for Moral Courage, a venture that equips people to turn heated issues into healthy conversations and sustained collaboration. She came to this role after co-starring in the award-winning documentary, "Mississippi Turning."
