World Languages and Cultures invites you to join us for the film screening of "Beans" (2020) by Mohawk filmmaker Tracey Deer for Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

When: Monday, Sept. 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: OLE 222, University of Massachusetts Lowell

With the financial support of the Consulate General of Canada in Boston and the Gouvernement du Québec

Based on true events, 12-year-old Beans is on the edge: torn between innocent childhood and reckless adolescence; forced to grow up fast and become the tough Mohawk warrior she needs to be during the Oka Crisis, the turbulent Indigenous uprising that tore Quebec and Canada apart for 78 tense days in the summer of 1990.
