Important Update on Microsoft Software Licensing for UMass Lowell Alumni and Retirees

Information Technology wants to inform you about a recent change to our Microsoft software licensing that affects alumni and retirees. As a result of adjustments made by Microsoft, we are no longer able to provide the desktop versions of Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

What Does This Mean for You?

• Access to Email: You will continue to have access to your UMass Lowell email account via Outlook on the web and mobile.
• Web-Based Applications: You will still have access to the online versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook through any internet browser.
• For Desktop Applications: If you wish to use the installed desktop versions of Microsoft 365 applications on your personal computers, you will need to obtain your own copy of each software. Microsoft Office software is available for purchase at most electronics retailers.
