As you may have seen in national news outlets, a global IT outage is impacting numerous organizations across multiple industries worldwide, some severely.

A cybersecurity vendor serving numerous technology companies and systems called CrowdStrike published a software patch that has caused widespread outages to multiple IT infrastructures. Every indication at this time is that this is an error, not a cybersecurity attack.

At UMass Lowell, while we do not use CrowdStrike, some of our technology partners do. Therefore, some applications are unavailable, and others have degraded performance. The situation is evolving rapidly. There is no action UML employees or students need to take and Information Technology and Web Services are working to mitigate trouble where possible.

However, these outages are occurring at the highest levels of multinational technology companies like Microsoft, and the resolution of these problems will need to be implemented by these companies to their systems and technology to ultimately resolve any degraded status of UML systems.

We will be updating the status page at https://status.uml.edu
