Who is an Immersive Scholar?
Immersive Scholars are pre-selected freshman applicants who are awarded merit scholarships through the UMass Lowell early action admission process.
Basic Information about the Immersive Scholars Award:
- The Immersive Scholars award is UP TO $4,000 that can be used towards specific experiential learning programs.
- The award can be used during the summer before sophomore year or during the sophomore academic year.
- Students cannot apply for the Immersive Scholars program opportunity directly; it is awarded based on merit and will provide unique opportunities for developing real world skills that will help students stand out among their peers.
- Students must maintain the minimum cumulative GPA as stated in their merit scholarship award letter and be enrolled full time in the day school at UMass Lowell to receive this award.
- Students may not reapply to the program, nor defer. If not used during the summer before sophomore year or during the sophomore academic year, the award is forfeited.
Immersive Scholars have three options to use their award:
- Work in research, scholarship or creative projects on campus with a faculty or staff member.
- Work at a community organization (non-proft organization or government agency) in the Lowell area.
- Participate in an international experience approved through the UMass Lowell Office of International Experiences and Study Abroad.
